The interwoven nature of the Internet and associated media in daily life creates new challenges when teaching children how to acceptably interact in society. Students today share more information than ever before using an ever-increasing assortment of social media. Text, images, and video are all posted by young people that contribute to the building a digital identity. Additionally, ethical use, copyright issues, privacy and security preservation, and maintaining an accurate, positive digital footprint for the future are all facets of digital citizenship.
